If you thought the Chunky Dunky’s were crazy, you haven’t seen this upcoming release. The Nike SB Dunk Low x Grateful Dead is Nike’s next big and VERY limited release. The inspiration comes a long way from the legendary rock band, Grateful dead that was a smashing hit during the 1960s and 1970s.

The furry design on the shoe pays tribute to the Grateful Dead Bears; which refer to a series of stylized dancing bears illustrated by Bob Thomas on the back cover of the album, “History” from Volume One (Bear’s choice) that was released by the band in 1973. If you know your American Rock history, you’d know that these dancing fuzzy bears come in five different colours; blue, green, yellow, orange and pink.

In the near upcoming release, Nike is set to release the “Green Spark” and “Opti yellow” colourways of the Grateful Dead silhouette. We weren't lying when we mentioned that this release was crazier than the Chunky Dunkys. The silhouette features a VERY fuzzy faux-fur upper with suede overlays and a contrasting light blue jagged edge Nike swoosh to represent the nostalgic bear drawings.

The blue contrast can also be spotted on the outsole on both pairs. The collaboration adds an iconic finishing touch to the shoe by displaying the corresponding fuzzy bear on the tongue. Both colourways are set to retail for $110 USD (4200 baht) and will be released on the 24th of July.

On another note, as mentioned before, we’re well aware that the album features 5 different coloured bears. Could this mean that there are 3 more colourways still yet to drop in the upcoming future? Stay tuned on Sasom to be the first to know!
