"Love Over Rules" Sacai's SS21 collection

In the past 1- 2 years, it's not surprising to see why Chitose Abe, designer of Sacai, ranks as one of the hottest designers at the moment with Nike. Not much needs to be said about the heat and hype that the Sacai x Nike collaborations have previously roused among sneaker heads and fashionistas alike. The Sacai x Nike Ld Waffle have been one of the most sought after sneakers on the market from when it first released in May 2019 up till the latest release of the black and white Nylon versions. Its 'doubling' of just about every feature in a shoe as well its 2-shoe merging concept make it one of the most original designs that Nike has pushed into the market.

When Sacai showcased and teased onlookers of their new Nike VaporWaffle silhouette with eye-appealing colours during their FW20 show, we thought it couldn't get any better. Last week, Sacai's SS21 runway introduced even more colourways as well as the reveal of their new Blazer Lows. We only noticed two new colourways from the VaporWaffle; one dark purple pair and one neutral tan, both of which seem to be constructed from mesh and suede. In addition to the VaporWaffle, we also got to see the introduction of the blazer lows, which bear a lot of resemblance to the Blazer Mids, with the exception of the ankle collar. The Blazer Lows also made an appearanc in 2 colourways; one in green and one in orange.

Despite the new excitement surrounding the new silhouettes and colourways, the star of the show has to go to EVERY garment that was presented. Known for her artwork and vision of combining different fabric and colours together, the upcoming men's SS21 collection REALLY delves deep into the designer's sense of hybrid fashion.

Dubbed "Love Over Rules", the designer explains that the inspiration for her collection comes from artist Hank Willis Thomas and is dedicated to all people of all races, centralizing on respect. The inspiration from Thomas is exhibited by the extensive patch work in almost every single piece that ranges from bomber jackets, to trench coats to shorts. Her immaculate pairing of the colours and patchwork makes it incredible appealing to the eye (especially the footwear).
