The collaboration keeps getting better

...

One of the top fashion trends within the past 2-3 years is shifting towards a more 'minimalist' aesthetic! Having more basic/staple pieces to wear daily is more commonly seen in cosmopolitan cities worldwide. When it comes to basic pieces, no one does it better than the Japanese brand, Uniqlo. In the past two years, we'd say that it was hard to go about on our day without seeing someone who wasn't wearing a Pokemon Uniqlo printed shirt or a Kaw's printed Tee. The brand's current most hyped collaboration was their collaboration with American Singer, Billie Eilish, and Takashi Murakami. With so many collaborations put together by Uniqlo, there's almost too many to count. So we've decided to make it easy for you and put together the top 5 most popular collaborations from Uniqlo (in no particular order!)

...
UT x SPRZ NY

Originating from Manhattan New York, SPRZ, or Surprize New York, is a representative face for the group artists worldwide. As part of the UT product segment, SPRZ has been working with Uniqlo in releasing annual seasonal pieces from spring all the way through winter.

...

Famous for their graphic tees, each representing the artist behind it, Uniqlo combines the unique designs with quality garments. Notable collections released by SPRZ and Uniqlo include MoMA, Japanese artist, Kusama Yayoi, and Andy Warhol.

...

The best release by the SPRZ has to be one that combines design and affordability, which is highlighted in the 2017 Charles and Ray Eames prints that showcase their popular Vitra wire chair design. If you’re an SPRZ collector/fan, you’ll have a lot on your plate as the releases seem to be endless (as of now).

UT x Murakami

It was only fitting that Uniqlo eventually collaborated with Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami, who is known worldwide for his iconic flower and skull cartoon designs.

...

Murakami has released multiple pieces with Uniqlo, which takes on various themes from different cultures. His most famous designs include classic Japanese manga, Doraemon, all the way to the music industry, where he includes Japanese idol group AKB48.

...

The most recent release features Billie Eilish that was released a couple of months ago. Murakami’s artworks and collaborations have always been fresh and unexpected, making their releases very highly anticipated and sought after.

...
Uniqlo x JW Anderson

JW Anderson (preferred over Jonathan Anderson) is a North Irish fashion designer who founded JW Anderson in 2008. The designer is known for working with Topshop brands to Louis Vuitton, especially for his subtle designs that centralize high-quality garments. Does high-quality garment sound familiar? It certainly does! It was only a matter of time before we saw the Irish designer team up with Uniqlo from 2017 for a capsule collection release called; Uniqlo x JW Anderson, which is also released seasonally. The only words we can use to describe this collaboration are; simple and stylish. What more do you need?

Uniqlo x Christophe Lemaire

Few have heard of French Christophe Lemaire, and we doubt that a lot of you who are reading this do too! Very low-key in his lifestyle, Lemaire was once the artistic director of Hermes. In 2016, Uniqlo offered Lemaire his own capsule collection that allowed him to express himself through daily wear and workwear pieces that focus on minimalism and versatility. Later on, Lemaire was offered the role of creative director for the Uniqlo U product line in 2017, which eventually become one of Uniqlo’s most popular lines featuring minimalism and timeless pieces that are guaranteed to stay in your wardrobe for a long time. Don’t expect to see crazy designs on pieces. If we’re being honest, we’re wearing his Uniqlo U T-shirts as we’re writing this article up.

...
UT x Kaws

Last, but certainly not least, we have the UT x Kaws collaboration. There is honestly not much to say about the hype between the American artist and Uniqlo. We’ve lost count of the number of times that we’ve seen people wearing the printed Kaws Tees.

...

The collaboration between the duo is the epitome of when fashion meets art. It shows the lengths and boundaries that Uniqlo has pushed to bring in fresh pieces to the fashion world at very affordable prices.

...

The most sought after and latest collaboration has to be the one that was released in 2019, featuring Kaws’ ‘companion’ figure. The collection became so popular that the Tees and bags from the release made their way to the resell market, which thereby cements the brand’s presence in the retail and fashion industry.

On one last note, since we’ve gone ahead and expressed our thoughts on Uniqlo’s collaborations and pieces, we would also like to take this opportunity to mention that many of the pieces mentioned are actually currently listed on our website. Check them out and get yours at Sasom!
