This past Saturday, we made a trip to The Solo Exhibition “Twins & My Sketchbook” by artist Pitakpong (Pex) Jamesripong, where he showcased his creation of his very own “Mari Wondergirl” at the EchoOne Nanzuka gallery.

Attended by top celebrities, world-class collectors, and artists, the event encapsulates the growing market for Thailand’s modern art. With the increasing popularity of modern art led by pioneering artists such as Brian (Kaws) Donelly, Takashi Murakami, Hajime Sorayama, Daniel Arsham, and many more alike, this exhibition demonstrated that Thai artists are catching on to the same global trend.

After successfully completing two iterations of his Mari Wondergirl Bearbricks under his own name, Pex looks to expand his work in other directions. At the same time, it was also apparent that the demand for Mr. Pex’s work has also risen, as made evident by the increase in demand from international customers (Chinese collectors in particular). Upon arrival, we came to find out that all of the bigger art pieces displayed (160 x 160 cm., 160 x 200 cm., 200cm x 200 cm.) at the event had already sold out prior to the start of the event.

This exhibition also marks another successful project by Thailand’s EchoOne Nanzuka Gallery team who continues to push Thai modern art forward into the global scene, while at the same time, strengthening our partnerships with the Japanese art scene. We’re looking forward to the next exhibition, whether it be at the EchoOne Nanzuka or other galleries, and promise to update you all!
